Første trosartikkel

Jeg tror på én Gud,
den allmektige Fader,
skaperen av himmel og jord,
av alt synlig og usynlig.

Og på en Herre, Jesus Kristus,
Guds enbårne Sønn,
født av Faderen før alle tider,
Gud av Gud, lys av lys,
sann Gud av sann Gud,
født, ikke skapt,
av samme vesen som Faderen,
han som alt er skapt ved,
som for oss mennesker
og for vår frelses skyld
steg ned fra himmelen,
og ved Den Hellige Ånd
ble kjød av jomfru Maria
og ble menneske,
som også ble korsfestet for oss
under Pontius Pilatus,
led og ble begravet,
stod opp tredje dag etter skriftene
og for opp til himmelen,
sitter ved Faderens høyre hånd
og skal komme igjen i herlighet
for å dømme levende og døde,
han hvis rike skal være uten ende.

Og på Den Hellige Ånd,
som er Herre og gjør levende,
som går ut fra Faderen og Sønnen,
som tilbes og æres sammen med Faderen og Sønnen,
og som har talt gjenom profetene.
Og at det er én hellig,
alminnelig og apostolisk kirke.
Jeg bekjenner én dåp til syndenes forlatelse
og venter på de dødes oppstandelse
og et liv i den kommende verden.

and was crucified also for us under Pontius Pilate;
he suffered and was buried;
and the third day he rose again

to judge both the quick and the dead;
whose kingdom shall have no end.
